Repairing painted bricks.

When bricks are painted they may hide the beginning stages of deterioration because the paint will hold the brick faces to the wall. However after some time the wall will deteriorate and even at a more rapid rate than if the wall wasn’t painted. You see the paint holds in the moisture not allowing evaporation to take place. This locks in the moisture and lets the freeze thaw cycle do its’ damage. The following pics show you what happens to the wall and how we repair the damage. Brick repair – replacing damaged bricks

In Cincinnati when I look at a brick repair request that a customer has asked for an estimate on, I find the damage so severe that a rebuild would be the proper approach. However if a customer prefers not to have a rebuild done and would rather ‘patch in’ a few damaged brick we can handle that as well.

Though we always recommend a rebuild where warranted and alternative and more economical application is brick replacement. (see video here) Read more
